La Tierra del Sol y el Buen Vino - II

When we embarked on our Mendoza adventure we knew that fun times were ahead but nothing could have prepared us for the awe inspiring beauty we were about to experience. The first clue of what was to come was the aerial view of the Andes Mountains as we made our connection from Chile to Argentina. Watching clouds rest on top of mountains was something out of a fairytale.

As you know, the primary purpose of the trip was to experience Mendoza’s Wine Country and to better understand why it has become one of the Wine Capitals of the World.

La Tierra del Sol y el Buen Vino

In a couple of days, we are heading to Mendoza, Argentina (aka La Tierra del Sol y el Buen Vino) and we can’t wait. A long time bucket list destination, Mendoza is considered one of the Wine Capitals of the World and the Wine Capital of South America. Known for it’s juicy, fruit forward Malbecs, Mendoza is at it’s prime during this time of the year as harvest preparations have begun. With the National Harvest Festival (Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia) set to start on Monday, February 25, we are looking forward to experincing this exciting region during it’s glory days.

  • Rum Diary

    Rum Diary

Inspired by our recent trip to Puerto Rico, we thought that we would share with you some our favorite rums from around the world. For those not familiar with rum, it is a distilled spirit made from sugarcane byproducts, such as molasses or sugarcane juice. Just like wine, rum is shaped by things like terroir, aging method and by the quality of the raw material being used to craft it. Rum comes in different colors and styles with the most common ones being white, gold, dark and spiced.

    2018 Wine of the Year

With the New Year upon us we are excited to announce the 2018 Wine Destinations Wine of the Year. During 2018 we once again had the opportunity to visit one of our favorite wine destinations, the beautiful Sonoma County. This time around we were fortunate to visit the historic Hanzell Vineyards. Nestled at the toe of the Mayacamas Mountains, this family farm is home to the oldest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines in the Western Hemisphere.
